Oil Based Motors In Cars – Will We Be Able To Stop Using Them?
There is a lot of talk in the media about new electric cars and even solar powered cars, but how likely are these really to replace the oil based motor? A few years ago most experts would have believed that the electric car was just a novelty item and that an efficient solar powered vehicle was the stuff of pipe dreams. Nowadays however, people are not wondering if these types of cars will ever be able to replace the traditional motor but instead they are asking the question of when they are going to replace it; this is all down to huge advances in technology.
And being able to totally eliminate the need for a petrol engine would be something that would be advantageous to us all. The only people who would really suffer would be those companies that have been able to hold the world to ransom because they control the oil. Of course the power for the electric motor has to come from somewhere and most of electrical power comes from fossil fuels but this is changing. The main thing is that a move to this new technology would reduce our dependence on oil. The fact that everyone would save money using these cars and that they would be better for the environment are two more fantastic benefits.
This year we have seen electric cars appear on the market that really are a realistic alternative to the traditional motor. The electric cars which have already been released are still slightly pricey but as more and more manufacturers begin to release their versions there will be a significant drop in the prices because of the competition. If the amount of electric cars that the experts are predicting will be on the roads within five years is anything to go by, we should see a huge number out there in about ten years time. As well as electric cars, there is a lot of research underway where the feasibility of creating a commercial solar powered car is being looked at; if this were to happen, our cars would become truly green.
